CERTUS commits to caring for the person behind the Alzheimer’s diagnosis. We join our residents on their journey and help them find meaning and purpose in each day. Our unique MAPS™ (Meaning And Purpose = Success) program provides opportunity and direction for residents to experience daily moments of success. The program emphasizes quality living where residents continue to explore all aspects of their lives.
Alzheimer’s is the most common type of dementia and causes problems with memory, thinking and behavior. It is not a normal part of aging. The greatest known risk factor is increasing age, as most people with Alzheimer’s are 65 and older. But Alzheimer’s is not just a disease of old age. Approximately 200,000 Americans under the age of 65 have younger-onset Alzheimer’s disease. Alzheimer’s has no current cure, but treatments for symptoms are available and research continues. Although current Alzheimer’s treatments cannot stop Alzheimer’s from progressing, it can temporarily slow the worsening of dementia symptoms and improve quality of life for those with Alzheimer’s and their caregivers. Today, a worldwide effort is under way to find better ways to treat the disease, delay its onset, and prevent it from developing.
Why we call CERTUS a Community and not a Facility
Each of our memory care communities will be a licensed Assisted Living Facility. At CERTUS, we prefer to call each of our individual facilities a ‘community’. The definition of a facility is space necessary for doing something. We believe our residents deserve more than what is just necessary. It is our mission to provide them with an assisted living community that is home-like, filled with finer amenities for optimal engagement every day, and a wellness plan that cares for the ‘whole-person’. We provide more than what is necessary or expected. This is why we offer Premier Memory Care Living communities. It is the CERTUS difference.
