Alzheimer’s disease is just one of over 100 conditions that can cause dementia. Research shows that many bodily organs, including the stomach (gut) and the heart, can cause conditions that may lead to dementia.
This is related to the brain-heart connection. Mounting research shows that when you take care of your heart, you are also taking care of your brain.
The effect of heart activity on brain function has been extensively researched. Researchers have found that small bursts of exercise foster a healthy heart for people over the age of 65.
By exercising and taking care of your heart, you may decrease your chances of developing Vascular dementia and, in some cases, even Alzheimer’s disease. Eat a healthy, balanced diet; manage your stress level; and exercise regularly. A healthy body equals a healthy mind.
